Autumn Term Girls' Hockey Round Up

Hockey is our major sport for girls in the Autumn Term and what a busy, challenging & successful term it has been!

A hugely enjoyable and successful girls’ hockey term, we have had over 190 girls taking part in nearly 100 fixtures. As well as having great depth in the senior squads, we have some superb players in the  junior section with an impressive ten 5th Form players proving their worth and joining much older pupils in the matches on our main sports pitch.

Our 1st XI won the Scottish Independent Boarding Schools’ tournament for the first time in four years in front of a hugely encouraging home crowd making it a truly memorable achievement.  The win included an emphatic 6-0 win against Loretto to seal victory.

Other highlights of the term have included; a full block win against Glenalmond with all our teams recording wins; a fantastic win against Dollar for the U15A side ensuring their progress to the semi-final of Scottish Bowl; the U14A’s epic win against Strathallan and the U14C win against Heriots especially as several girls that had never played hockey before this term!

We were well represented in the inter district tournament with Abbie A playing for the South team and Marissa M and Isabella U playing for the East U16 side, showing their commitment to the game both at school and externally.
