Appointment of Registrar
We are excited to share news that from August 2025, James Weatherby will become Registrar for Fettes College.
James joined Fettes College in September 2007 during which time he has been an integral part of the Mathematics Departments, successfully led a boys’ boarding House – Carrington – as Houseparent for 12 years and latterly spent the last 4 years as Senior Deputy Head. In his role as Senior Deputy Head, which he will continue to fulfil until the end of this academic year, James’s key responsibilities extend to the day-to-day running of the school, deputising for the Head in her absence, facilitating the varied range of the school’s excellent co-curricular programme, supervising the running of chapel, co-ordinating whole school events and upholding standards and good behaviour.
Speaking about his appointment, Debbie Atkins, Director of External Relations said, “We are all absolutely delighted James has been appointed Registrar for Fettes College. His considerable experience and knowledge of every aspect of Fettes life, together with his supportive and collegiate approach, will complement our existing Admissions Team and be a significant asset to families as they discover Fettes. We are excited to work together to implement new initiatives which will continue to deliver a warm and supportive service for all our future families, right from the moment they first make contact through to the day each student enters our school.”
James Weatherby said, “I am delighted to have been appointed to the Registrar position, where I look forward to joining an already outstanding Admissions Department. I am eager to use my experience and knowledge of Fettes to ensure that every family feels supported from their first interaction with us through to their child's first day at school. Together, I am confident we can implement initiatives that create a welcoming environment and showcase the unique qualities of our community.”
James is married to Andrea, a Teacher of English in Fettes Prep School. They have two grown up boys, both who attended Fettes. As a lover of cricket, James’ homeland of Australia remains a key part of his life, and he remains ever-prepared to don the baggy green cricket cap should the selection call ever come!
