An outstanding set of 2022 GCSE results

Fettes College is delighted to announce an outstanding set of 2022 GCSE results, with 31% of grades achieved by our students scoring a 9 – our highest proportion on record for public examinations.

All examination results are scored by numerical grading 9-1 with the following impressive percentages being achieved:

31%     9

53%     9/8

74%     9/8/7 (equivalent of A* /A in previous years)

99%     9 - 4 (equivalent of A*- C in previous years)

Jonathan Marchant, Deputy Head (Academic) said: “Despite the unprecedented disruptions of the last two years, our GCSE candidates have demonstrated enormous resilience and strength of character.  Each student should feel proud of what they have achieved and celebrate their hard work and commitment. Whether they are progressing to A Level or IB, we know that the skills they have learnt and the thorough grounding they have experienced will stand them in good stead. We are very proud of the many individual successes contained within these statistics with particular congratulations going to Sirisha S, Annabelle P, Nia K, Elizabeth M and Skye F who achieved 9s in every subject taken, which is truly exceptional.”

Head, Helen Harrison, added:

"I am so pleased that the talent, dedication and sheer hard work of both our students and staff have combined to produce such an impressive set of results, especially given the adaptability needed over the last two years. These results reflect the excellent standard of learning and teaching happening throughout Fettes and our students should feel exceedingly proud of what they have achieved. They will now embark on their studies in the Sixth Form with an excellent academic grounding and we are looking forward to welcoming them back for the start of a new year."
