1912 Society Pipe Band Concert

The 1912 Society Pipe Band concert finished off an extremely busy penultimate week of term. The band made history this year by performing on two separate occasions, one matinee performance on Thursday, 8th December to a crowd of eager Fettes Prep Pupils and a slightly chilly but enthusiastic visiting rugby team from South Africa, and another on Friday 9th December.

Our concert, titled “Calm Before the Storm” featured traditional tunes played by over 60 pipers and drummers. The highlight of the first half was the Prep School Pipe Band’s rendition of Dougie MacLean’s “Caledonia”, this was made even more special with the addition of a song duet from the Prep School, Kitty M and Laylah R.

The rest of the concert was as entertaining as ever and the A Band put on a great show including a “Highland Dance” set where we were joined by Orla M R and Mairi H. They danced the “Swords” as the band played a Strathspey and Reel. The audience showed their appreciation, and we are looking forward to our next Pipe Band outing.
