Service plays a huge part in the lives of all Fettesians and it’s wonderful when we see that mindset of thinking of others continuing when our students become Old Fettesians.

One such OF exemplifying community service is Callum Scott (PS-MO 2004-2012) who is the youngest blood biker in Scotland and covering Blood Bikes Scotland shifts during lockdown. Callum, who is son of Mrs Scott, Housemistress of Iona House in the Prep School, told us what inspired him to volunteer:

“I first heard about the National Association of Blood Bikes through my sister Sophie Scott (PS-CW 2006-2015) who is a paediatric nurse at the Great Ormond Street Hospital. I immediately enquired and upon passing the Advanced Rider Competency test, I joined as the youngest Blood Biker in Scotland. I was fortunate to be educated at Fettes where good values and morals showed me the importance of helping your community.”

THANK you to Callum and all other Blood Bikers for their incredible ongoing support throughout the UK.

Blood Bikes Scotland offer a free of charge transport service to the NHS as a way of ‘giving something back’. Run by volunteers, they support primary and secondary care givers including GPs, District Nurses, Care Homes and Community Hospitals. The service is provided in all weathers with a smile and in a professional, friendly, trusting manner.
