Latest news...

Many friendships and connections have been built through Fettes and the spirit of warmth and generosity within our globally dispersed community is exceptionally strong. There is always someone on hand to help OFs and Fettes families arriving in a new place in the world or to offer careers support and advice.

We are thrilled that, with support from Old Fettesian Ryan Li (Gl 2010-2015) and his family, we are now able to offer greater digital connectivity to the Fettes community, via our new Fettes Community portal, which launched to Old Fettesians and former staff recently.

Those who register can connect with others via the portal and contribute to the Fettes Community feed by commenting on posts or by posting themselves. They can access exclusive content and photo albums as well as join groups linked by a specific region or interest.

Fettes Community will in time revolutionise the impact of our award-winning Fettes Career Partnership programme, which promotes career support across the Fettes network of Old Fettesians, parents and pupils. Already nearly 40% of the 600 portal users are ready and willing to support careers in a number of ways such as answering industry specific questions; facilitating introductions or the possibility of internships; reviewing CVs or job applications or simply having a conversation about careers choices or offering advice.

This is an aspect of the project which is close to Ryan’s heart:

“I am so proud that, with my family, I have been able to support Fettes to launch Fettes Community. I am delighted to play my part in keeping the community connected and up to date with news and events.  I am particularly pleased that this fantastic new portal provides a platform from which Old Fettesians can seek and offer support with careers. This has been something of a dream of mine since I was at Fettes when the now thriving Fettes Career Partnership was launched in 2012.”

Nicola Pickavance, Director of Development, is extremely grateful to Ryan and his family:

Without the generosity of Ryan and his family, the simple fact is, we would not have been able to launch the Fettes Community portal. Their gift means the world to us and will enable us to keep our community connected, informed and supporting one another for years to come.”

In due course portal membership will increase to include parents and Sixth Form pupils. Its content will extend to include access to newly digitised Fettes archives, including searchable back issues of the Old Fettesian Newsletter and the Fettesian Magazine, and some 1300 scanned school photographs.

A Fettes education provides a strength of friendship and connection. If you are an Old Fettesian and have not already registered, please visit fettescommunity.org today to join our every growing digital community.
