Thinking about CVs and your digital profile is increasingly important.  Our Upper Sixth students had an informative session with OF Elliot Reeves (Ca 1997-2000), Social Media Strategist and Digital Marketing Consultant.  Elliot is also the Founder of Inspired Edinburgh, a video production and media company.

Elliott shared his experience on personal brand providing students with tools and tips to use when developing their own CV.  He also utilised his digital experience to provide techniques to make a professional profile can stand out online.

Elliot utilised several meaningful quotes which resonated with the students.

"You’ll never be the author of your own life if you’re not the one holding the pen."

"The purpose of a CV is to demonstrate to employers that you are suitable for the job you are applying for. The sole aim is to convince them that they should invite you for an interview. It doesn’t matter how impressive your history or education is, if you don’t display it in a clear and easy-to-read way, you’re going in the bin."

"Your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room."

"It’s not what you know, or who you know, it’s who knows you."

"Be extremely careful! You cannot be de-googled! Always be thoughtful and intentional about who you want to be and what you’re putting out into the Universe!"

We are grateful to Elliot for his time and his insights which students can use to put the best version of themselves forward when networking and applying for internships, work experience and employment.
