We recently announced plans to celebrate our 150th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of girls joining the College. These include a wonderful array of opportunities for Old Fettesians, parents, past and present, and former staff to join in during the academic year 2020-21.
Tickets are on sale for a birthday celebration at Fettes on Sunday 4th October. During the afternoon guests can attend a Commemorative Chapel Service, visit Houses and cheer Fettesians on as they take part in a Tug of War competition. They can also witness the spectacle of Fettes College Pipe Band and Old Fettesian pipers performing together, before enjoying a slice of birthday cake and raising a glass to Sir William Fettes. Tickets for this special event are available to purchase here.
There are many other ways to get involved, including signing up for a challenge to help Fettesians summit 150 Munros in September this year, taking part in a Global Golf Competition in May 2021 or bringing a team to the 150th Anniversary Festival of Sport in June 2021. Details of these exciting events and other special gatherings, such as Fettes’ 150th Anniversary Concert in the Usher Hall and Gala Dinners in Edinburgh and London can be accessed here.
It does not end there as further plans will be announced over the coming months, including for a very special all-female Old Fettesian panel event in London.
All of these events will run alongside the Old Fettesian Association’s regular events, ably organised by volunteer Regional Representatives, supported by OF Co-ordinator, Victoria Shearer. The first of these to be confirmed in 2020-21 is the much-anticipated London Old Fettesian Carol Service on 16th December. Bookings are open for this event already, here.
There is no doubt this is going to be a very significant year for the Fettes community, giving all of us the opportunity to remember what part we have played in the Fettes story and what Fettes means to us.
