On 29th November, 23 Old Fettesians gathered for the bi-annual Edinburgh Old Fettesian Lunch at the Royal Scots Club.
The very first pupils and staff arrived at Fettes on 5th October 1870: 53 boys and seven Masters. One hundred years later, the first girls joined Fettes and now, as we approach our 150th anniversary, we are fully co-educational and flourishing.
On 5th October 2020, the school will reach its 150th birthday. We are currently planning a range of ways for our community to get involved in our celebrations throughout the academic year 2020-2021.
A wide range of events are being planned so that everyone will get a chance to celebrate the school's history. The annual calendar of gatherings across the globe for Old Fettesians, parents and the wider Fettes community will continue, alongside additional celebrations including a gala dinner in London and black-tie events in Edinburgh and Hong Kong (dates TBC).
In this special year, the Fettes College Autumn Concert will take place in the Usher Hall. If you would like to join us, pencil in the evening of 26th November 2020.
The 150th year also coincides with the 50th anniversary of girl pupils joining Fettes. This will have its own strand of celebration, including an all-female Fettes panel event, organised through our Career Partnership Programme.
Fettes 150th anniversary book
A specially commissioned book sits at the heart of our plans to celebrate the School's 150th anniversary.
To help tell the Fettes story, this beautiful book, entitled 'Fettes: Our Place', will feature archival and personal photos from throughout Fettes' 150 years. 'Fettes: Our Place' is now available to pre-order at a discounted rate of £35.
Tickets and registration for the 150th programme will begin from Spring 2020.

We are always happy to receive Fettes related archival material from any time.
Currently, we are specifically seeking letters which give an insight into life at Fettes over the years. We will be including a selection of letters in our commemorative 150th anniversary book and would very much like to receive items of this nature which we might consider for inclusion.
If you have access to Fettes related archival material that you would be willing to gift to the school or share on a temporary basis please do get in touch with the Fettes Archivist, Craig Marshall.
