On Friday 26th April, 30 Old Fettesians got together at the Yale Club in New York for the annual gathering of our warm and generous US-based community. This provided an ideal opportunity for those present to meet the Headmaster, Geoffrey Stanford, who was making his first trip to the US for Fettes.

Everyone enjoyed hearing Geoffrey’s Fettes update at Dinner, with many commenting on how heartening it was to learn all about recent school successes and future plans.  Of course, one evening is never enough time to reminisce and share stories so a number of Old Fettesians enjoyed brunch together with Geoffrey and the Director of Development, Nicola Pickavance, who also made the trip to the US, the next day.

Also, on Friday 26th April, the Friends of Fettes College Inc., Fettes’ US charity, which allows US tax payers to make tax-deductible donations to the College, had its AGM. There was a fine turn out from our dedicated Trustees who volunteer their time and expertise freely. There was much excitement about what they would like to achieve in the run up to and during Fettes 150th Anniversary in 2020-21 in order to fulfil their aims to raise funds for Fettes College; to provide a support network for Old Fettesians in the US and to aid in the recruitment of pupils for the school.

“We are deeply grateful to Friends of Fettes Inc. Trustees for all they do support Fettes College. As well as their fundraising efforts we are especially grateful to them for the welcome they extend to OFs who let us know they are moving to the US, including recent leavers studying there. I would thoroughly recommend that any OF planning a move to the US gets in touch with the Development Team, so that we can ensure they have opportunities to engage with the Fettes family based there.”

Nicola Pickavance, Director of Development
