With 100 acres of green space, our city centre campus is both a tremendous asset and a serious responsibility.

As stewards we have maintained our mature woodland for over 150 years but we are not complacent and have invested in a comprehensive landscape management strategy review to ensure the quality of our physical place is not only preserved but enhanced for future generations.

We commit to invest solely in sustainable developments and undertake extensive environmental baseline auditing.

Rooted in this data, our targets for 2023-2028 are aligned with the relevant biosphere Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). We share the responsibility for progress among all members of the community with detailed action plans to provide milestones and accountability.

• Energy: SDG 13 Climate action - To reduce campus-wide energy consumption by 10%.
• Waste: SDG 12 Responsible reduction and consumption - To reduce single-use plastics by 25% and food waste by 15%.
• Biodiversity: SDG 14+15 Life on Land and Water - To promote biodiversity and enhance wildlife habitats.

We take an interdisciplinary approach to our study of sustainability issues and encourage students to put their knowledge into practice through co-curricular and volunteering activities.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) learning pathways are imaginatively mapped across the curriculum and into our thought-provoking academic enrichment programmes including our landmark Sixth Form lecture series: "This Will Be Your World" and our Third Form (age 13+ years) cross-curricular project which, each year, has a different sustainability theme.

We applaud our students who stretch and challenge their thinking and enter external competitions, for example those held by The Royal Geographical Society and Villars Future Fellowship. We foster original and authentic thought and determination, and we celebrate success.

As a community we understand that no action is too small and that by working collaboratively we can heighten our ambitions: our artists design posters; our volunteers weed community gardens; our speakers represent the school at debates; our writers contribute articles; our sustainability leaders raise awareness; and we prepare our students to make their mark on their rapidly changing world.
