Running at Fettes takes many forms. The top runners race for the school competitively, for example in the Scottish Cross-Country Championships. Many runners opt for cross-country in the Spring Term, with two sessions a week, each covering 4-6km. Less formal is the Hash House Harriers, an afternoon activity group that takes easy runs around the City of Edinburgh. Many athletes use cross-country as distance training for the athletics season.
Fixtures take place at a number of other Scottish School and Fettes holds its own Fettes Cross Country Relays in March.
Last year Andrew Young won the Senior Boys Scottish Schools title at Irvine in March and we had a number of other boys in the top thirty.
