Squash is enjoyed by a range of pupils throughout the school, both recreationally on an informal basis, or competitively with one of our teams who play in the Edinburgh Schools Leagues at boys and girls under 19 level, and boys under 16 level . Most of the school‘s coaching is delivered by Bruce Russell, whose has a strong background in coaching and playing this vigorous and enjoyable individual sport. Girls‘ and boys‘ house competitions are also keenly contested, and occasionally talented individuals enter competitions outwith the school circuit, to stretch themselves against the best young players in the country. Current upper sixth former Nelson Fung is ranked in the top 5 under 19 players in Scotland.
The aim of the programme is to enable all pupils keen on squash to receive a grounding in the basics of the game and to provide a pathway for those aspiring to develop their skills to a level where they can play and enjoy competitive squash.
