Netball
Netball is a Minor Sport at Fettes which is played during the Spring term at the same time as Lacrosse. We have been developing the sport over the past four years at Fettes and we are now quite clearly able to see a marked improvement.
The junior girls play netball in addition to lacrosse and this works well to enable them to practice a different range of skills. The U14 junior side was unbeaten last year and is looking forward to repeat this achievement next season.
The senior girls tend to specialize more in either netball or lacrosse and we do very well to compete with several schools that specialize in netball over the two terms. We hosted the Independent Schools Netball tournament last year and are doing the same this coming year. We finished third last year having been the runners up for two years previous to this.
Our matches are on Thursdays and we have the luxury of two indoor courts. We currently have 3 players playing for Edinburgh District netball and they are in the age groups U17 and U19. The girls also enjoy the annual inter-house competition.
The prep school are also good at their netball and have recently been on tour to the North of England - Liverpool and Blackpool.
Netball is becoming a hugely growing sport both in the wider community and in schools and look forward to one day Netball being a Major Sport!
