Prep girls round up of the week
The U9’s, playing only their third match, were buzzing with excitement. During the first half, Fettes had the upper hand and moved the ball around the pitch with control, scoring 3 goals to give them a dominant lead. However, Ardvreck team talk at half time was certainly effective, as the opposition fought back to bring the final score to 4 – 3 to Fettes. Poppy defended superbly and Flora displayed some excellent ball skills as an attacking player. The U9’s thoroughly enjoyed their experience and had a win to give them the confidence they needed.
The U11A team was equally as successful and once again gave a display of excellent team work and individual ball control. Fettes always had the upper hand and never eased off the pressure. Goals were scored by Cara, Rosie and Rachel, to give Fettes a win by 3 goals to nil. “Man of the Match” was given to Rosie for her endless energy and sheer determination in the middle of the pitch.
The U13B team played very solidly on a tricky surface, and always looked the likelier team, winning 1-0 through a goal by Florence U from an excellently taken short corner. Breagh M and Finn G were others to catch the eye. The U13As found going much tougher against a very well drilled, (and unbeaten) Ardvreck team, and lost by 8-0. Missing captain Sasha L (off ill), and having striker Madeleine G off injured with a nasty blow to the face in the first minute, it was a difficult afternoon. Despite the scoreline, the girls never gave up, played some good hockey, and had very good performances from Angharad B-T, and Juliet S-B.
