The opposition were keen to play Fettes after their win over St. Mary’s Melrose the previous day. The U11A team was nervous and gave nothing away during the first 5 minutes of play. However, after scoring 2 goals, their confidence returned and the ball was passed swiftly and accurately around the pitch. Rosie and Rachael worked together in the centre while Lucy, Cara and Catriona received and distributed passes out on the wings way. Playing with tremendous enthusiasm and great team spirit the Fettes girls won 5-1. Player of the match was awarded to Rachael.

In the U11B match, the Fettes girls did not have it all their own way and fought hard and long to keep the ball out of their circle and shoot once in their opposition’s goal area. Holly standing in as goalkeeper and despite not wearing goalie kit, did a fantastic job of clearing the ball away from the goal and prevented any coming in! With great team effort and outstanding play from Alice and Olivia, the final score was 0-0.

Hockey pre-season 1

The U9’s played Cargilfield away on Wednesday, 30th November in what was nearly a full house representation of the girl’s squad. Unusually, they played inside and 6 a-side which added to the excitement! They all showed how much they have progressed throughout the season and the final scores of 2-2 and a loss of 9-2 gave them a feel for real competitive hockey.

The U13A’s and U13B’s also played Cargilfield but on home soil. The A team, despite struggling to hold “their own,” put up a good fight and continued to display excellent team spirit but sadly lost 8-1. The B team were more evenly matched and came away with a 0-1 loss. The U13C team later in the day, played against Edinburgh Academy. With a determined attitude, the side played the ball around the pitch and took every opportunity they were given. Katherine played well in defence and Pippa showed her strength as a midfield player, distributing the ball well. Sonya did a fantastic job defending the goal and the girls were pleased with a 1-1 result.
