Prep Girls Games round up
After a 2 week break from the game, the girls came back to school bubbling with enthusiasm and keen to face a challenge! On Wednesday, 2nd November, the U11A had a rematch against Edinburgh Academy on the Fettes astro. Both teams started well, but the Academy was determined not to allow Fettes into their circle and also placed a player onto Rachael to mark. As a result, the score was 0 – 0 at half time. Fettes had beaten them in the last match and now realised that they needed to “up their game”! The team picked up the pace, communicated and scored 2 fantastic goals to bring the final score to 2 – 1 to Fettes. Annabel was named “man of the match” for her defensive work and Cara and Catriona praised for their goal scoring endeavours.
The U13B’s and U12’s also had a match against Edinburgh Academy at home at 4.00pm. The U13’s started the game with determined play, pushing past their defenders and putting pressure on the goalie. Heather made some great saves and Rachael an U11 player making her debut for the U13’s, made some great passes into the ‘D’. Finn did an equally good job running ‘the line’ out on the wing and Alice picking up passes in the mid field. With huge team effort, the final score was 3 – 0 to Fettes!
The U12’s had a tougher task on their hands and found the opposition hard to pass! Fettes defenders worked in full force to put pressure on the Academy’s attackers but sadly, to no avail. The final score was 4 – 1 to the Academy but despite this, Fettes walked away knowing they had given their all!
Also on Wednesday, Sasha represented the Dandy’s in a netball match against the WOSP’S, at Kilgraston. Sasha worked hard to play to her usual high standard and contributed to a fine win by the Dandy’s.
On Friday, 4th November the U13A’s and U13B’s made their way up to Riley House for hockey matches. Rachael made her second appearance for the older girls’ team, playing to expectations and scored Fettes only goal. The game was tough and the U13A’s needed all their might just to keep the ball out of their goal. The final score was 6 – 1 to Riley House and Fettes left knowing they had played their best against a thoroughly good side. The U13B’s were also up against a strong opposition and lost the match 1 – 2. Lydia was the goal scorer and a mention must also go to Catherine for her brilliant goalkeeping skills.
