Moredun Hockey Success!
Moredun has a strong reputation for Hockey at the moment and we currently hold three out of the possible four House cups. We have players playing for the Scotland squads (Hamish I and Ruairidh G) as well as a number who also play East District or for local Edinburgh clubs (such as the Grange) - Lewis R, Geordie M, Alex E-K.
This year, however, the house team is stronger than ever. Six of the 1st XI starting squad are Moredunians, including 3rd Former Ruairidh G, an amazing achievement for a 3rd Former. He scored the opening goal against Loretto last weekend and is clearly a young man of considerable talent.
It is in leadership in particular that Moredun are leading the way this term. Every school hockey team this term is currently captained by a Moredun man with the exception of the 3rd XI where Jack D is Vice Captain. This term we have the following leadership roles:
Captain of the 1st XI: Connor M
Captain of the 2nd XI: Freddie F
Vice-Captain of the 3rd XI: Jack D
Captain of the 4th XI: Tim M – also Head Boy.
Captain of the Colts A’s: Alex W
Captain of the Colts B’s: Ed F
Captain of the Junior Colts A’s: Lorne M
Captain of the Junior Colts B’s: Josh T
This is a tremendous and very rare achievement and the Moredun men should be very proud of themselves to show such maturity and strong leadership skills. Well done guys.
