Little Shop of Horrors
Audiences were treated to an incredible display of singing and acting talent, superb music, creative costumes and an ENORMOUS man eating plant in Little Shop Of Horrors last week.
Star performances from Francis MB, India T, Alexander G and Samuel W were backed up by a superb chorus, taking turns at belting out the songs and dancing and posing in their 50's inspired fashion.
Behind the scenes there was a full stage management team including lighting, set construction, make-up and hair, costumes and puppetry support - all Fettes students.
Tim M provided the voice for the giant Audrey II while Jack C excelled as the body. The plant puppets were provided by professional puppeteer Brian Herring who held and intensive workshop with Jack before jetting off to work on Ridley Scott's Alien prequel.
The live band was so note perfect that audience members thought it was a pre-recorded CD while the interval Jazz for guest from Philip B, Peter R, Gordon R and Sajan W added a real touch of class.
"After a mere three years of pressure, I have bowed to popular demand and decided to do something 'fun' for the Whole School Production. What my cast and crew may not have realised is that 'fun' theatre can be more difficult than 'serious' shows and Little Shop is one of the most difficult of all.
The show requires over a kilometer of cabling, well over a hundred hours of rehearsals and, at the last count, two crates of isotonic drink to hydrate the plant puppeteer.
And to those who might think that I have lost my love of 'dark' theatre, I hope you enjoyed the death scenes.
