The Tuesday of the swimming gala was tense. Many people swimming hadn’t touched a pool in a year, but don’t let that fool you. People were dropping like flies with leg cramps and illnesses. Although, this would not prove a problem for East and our support was strong. After many nail biting races finally came the relays. It was Alex first in the pool for backstroke, after a second place turn around it was Holly’s breaststroke sprint that gained our first place. Next Marie with her beautiful butterfly gained us even more ground then, Claudia’s Freestyle finished it off. With a roar from our fellow Easties we celebrated our first win! (And we got medals).

On Tuesday the 31st of January, East took part in the annual swimming gala. The support was amazing from the whole house, which provided a great deal of help and encouragement to us all. We came second in most of our races, which was fantastic, as we do not have many swimmers in East. That said, a special thanks should go out to Tori L who did superbly well. This was her first attempt at swimming the butterfly stroke although she did have some practice on the Common Room couch! Also, a huge thank you to Abi, Chloe, Flora, Charlotte L and Jameelah, who contributed greatly to the team and did their best for the house.
