Girls Games Round-Up

prep sport rounders

This was a busy week for the rounders squads, with matches against the Compass School, Cargilfield and a tournament at Kilgraston.

On Monday 7th May, the U11A team played Compass at home and played with far more tenacity and confidence. Lucie was the star batter, scoring 3 rounders in the second innings but overall, the team played with far more awareness of individual strengths and were delighted to win by 17 – 11 ½ rounders. Wednesday gave the U11A’s another opportunity to put their competence to the test when they played Cargilfield away. This was never deemed to be an easy game and try as they did, they had to settle with an 18-7 lose. The U11B team were also defeated by 16-8 rounders.

U9 rounders

The U9’s played Cargilfield at home and were very eager to get involved. They were ready for the catches, keeping their eye on the ball at all times and fought hard to score rounders. The final score of 10 ½ – 9 to Fettes gave the girls ample reason to rejoice.

Meanwhile the U13A team travelled up to Kilgraston for their annual rounders tournament. Their first match was against Kilgraston and even though a close game, they had to be content with a defeat of 3 ½ to 5 ½. Next they met Belhaven and play was impressive but, again they lost 3 ½ to 7 ½. Their third match against St. Mary’s put the Fettes girls under more pressure and even the great batting skills of June and Florence could not win the game and they lost 9 ½ to 11 ½. Their final game against Riley House saw some outstanding fielding from Elena and Madeleine and the team played to their strengths. However, the final score was 11 ½ to 3 ½ to Riley House and Ardvreck walked away with the trophy. The U13 girls were pleased with their performances and learnt much from the experience.
