Future Sport Stars
On Friday 4th May Fettes College welcomed over 30 children from local schools to take part in our 3rd annual Sporting Talent Day.
The day is designed to bring sporty boys and girls together to get expert coaching from the Fettes PE staff, utilise our facilities and above all have fun.
Children joined us from Flora Stevenson Primary, Ferryhill Primary, Stockbridge Primary, Trinity Primary, The Compass School and individuals from BlackHall Primary, Bonaly Primary and Duddingston Primary. Each school had selected their sportiest boys and girls for this action packed day.
The range of sports that the children were coaching in meant that they could show off their skills but also try news sports that they perhaps hadn't thought about before. Girls received coaching in Netball, Tennis, Athletics, Lacrosse and Fencing while boys learnt more about Rugby, Football, Cricket, Athletics and Fencing.
All sports were coached by the Fettes PE staff except Fencing which was provided by GB Olympic hopeful Keith Cook who made a huge impression on the children. We are very grateful to Keith and to Winning Scotland Foundation for providing their support and expertise.
We were hugely impressed with the boys and girls who attending - their enthusiasm and never-ending energy was incredible impressive - who knows one of them may well go on to be an Olympiad one day - watch this space.
