A Levels & University Entrance

About Fettes

The A Level results released on the 18th August brought more good news for our leavers of 2011.

Two-thirds of the year group followed the A Level pathway and the statistics for the results they achieved make for impressive reading. 26 students, one third of the cohort, achieved three A grades or better and the overall pass rate was 100%.

When this excellent performance is combined with the outstanding results achieved by our IB students, which were released last month, the Class of 2011 gained an average UCAS points score of 412. This is the equivalent in A Level terms of each student gaining two A* grades and one A grade.

"All of these students, together with those who taught them over the course of the last two years, deserve warmest congratulations for this highly impressive outcome."
MCB Spens, Headmaster

As a consequence of their efforts, 75% of the 110 students going on to university this year have secured places at their first choice university, with a further 21% receiving confirmed offers from their insurance choice. That is very good news indeed for all concerned and a highly laudable result given the intense competition for university places this year.
