The Grassie Range Grand Opening

Ribbon CuttingOn a glorious March morning, over 50 Old Fettesians, parents and guests assembled at the new Grassie Range, located to the rear of Glencorse, to witness the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Range Grand Opening. The former CCF Rifle Range was demolished in 2006 to allow for the building of Craigleith, the new Upper 6th Boarding House, which was opened in 2007.

Guests inspected the Range with a glass of champagne to celebrate the occasion, and after lunch, 28 people took the opportunity to test their shooting skills. 300 rounds were fired, with some excellent targets returned. We are also most grateful for the four new match rifles donated by the Grassie family.

The first shots were fired down the range, in order to test the facility, on 8 December 2008 by Lachlan Grassie (Gl 07-).

The new range was made possible thanks to the generosity of Old Fettesians and Friends.
