Friends of Fettes College Inc
Annual Dinner in New York April 2008
Thanks to the sterling efforts of Davidson Gordon (G57) there was yet another successful and lively gathering of Old Fettesians in the impressive facilities of the Yale Club of New York City, when 30 Old Fettesians and Friends of the College sat down to another excellent annual dinner. While it has to be said that the singing of Floreas Fettesia at the end of the dinner left room for improvement, the convivial atmosphere was enjoyed by all present, from the likes of the most senior OFs present, Jacek Makowski (CE44), and Hooshang Batmanghelidj (K46) to the relatively recently leavers of Helen Gunn (A01) and David Riddle (G02).
As usual, this event coincided with 2 other events, these being the Annual General Meeting of the Friends of Fettes College Inc and New York’s Annual Tartan Week, which culminated with the Tartan Day Parade processing up 6th Avenue to Central Park.
Annual General Meeting
At the Annual Meeting of the Friends of Fettes College Inc, which is the entity established to allow tax efficient giving by those who are US taxpayers, the Trustees were pleased to note that last year had been a record year for donations. They approved the transfer of a handsome sum to the Fettes Foundation, which has been very greatly appreciated by the College.
It is hoped that there will be another good turnout of USA and Canadian based Fettesians, plus their Friends for the 2009 Dinner in New York, scheduled to be held on Friday 3 April, yet again at the Yale Club, which is a very short walk from Grand Central Station.
