Start of the Day. After climbing up the 106 stairs to reach the West Middle School Day Girls’ Room, I greet my friends, change my books and head off to a short chapel service.

Cello Lesson. After forty minutes of attempts at an F sharp minor scale at my cello lesson, and several shots at one of my favourite pieces, ‘The Swan’, I set off for double History then Latin.

Lunch. During lunch break we have the weekly Eco-Committee meeting. We discuss the profits of our t-shirt sales, to find out that we have raised nearly £200 for Care for the Wild International.

English and Art. In English we continue our progress on ‘The Go-Between’ discussing the intriguing relevance of the use of the symbolism in the novel, such as the signs of the Zodiac. Then I have Art, where we examine the use of light and dark in negative space in Degas’s drawings, before trying it out ourselves.

Sport. This afternoon we have lacrosse - sticks, gloves, and mouthguards in hand. A quick warm up, a few skills, then match practise, everyone’s favourite.

Activities. There are so many activities on offer at Fettes so in the afternoon we head off to various different activities, some to play rehearsals or running club, I, to orchestra. Beethoven’s Symphony Number 5 at the ready. It’s hard. Practice definitely required.

Free time and Prep. Now we’re off to tea, before changing into casuals and having an hour of free time, in which we can go visiting to other boarding houses to socialise and chat with friends. At 7.15 Prep starts, so we depart to our various dorms and studies to do homework for an hour and a half.

Tutors. As it is Tuesday, we day girls also have tutorials, where we meet individually with our tutor for a laid-back conversation about the week’s happenings and any problems we might have. 8.45 brings House Prayers and at 9 my private taxi arrives, otherwise known as Dad, to take me home.
