I have taught at Fettes for 12 years and had been Head of Department for six years. Before I came into teaching I did Laser Research in the field on Non Linear Optics. This involved the designing and building of Optical Parametric Oscillators which are used to convert the frequency of light. This ultimately leads to increased data transfer rates in optical fibres.
I still have a keen interest in this field of research and try and keep abreast of the latest research. I enjoy all aspects of teaching at Fettes and have had the opportunity to undertake many new experiences in my time here.
