Dr John Hobbs
Head of Modern Languages
Born in Montreal, I studied languages at Leeds University and King’s College, London. After nearly ten years as a University Lecturer in Portuguese, I joined Fettes in 2006 to embark on a new teaching career and I have never looked back.
Since joining the college, I have enjoyed working closely with colleagues to teach students from a wide array of backgrounds and have taken great joy in seeing them progress from no knowledge in German or Spanish to speaking it with friends or taking it forward to University level.
Outside the classroom, I have really enjoyed coaching the Colts A cricketers and learning and coaching the game of Fives. My ambition is to swim the Channel by 2012.
