Lacrosse
Lacrosse, the major girls’ game during the Spring Term, is a rapidly developing sport around the world.
The beginnings of the game
Contrary to popular belief the girls’ version of the game was born in Scotland after one headmistress returned from a trip to North America having viewed the game.
Seven teams
Fettes fields seven teams during the Spring Term, all of which play in fixtures representing the school.
National Small Schools Tournament
The 1st XII compete every year in the National Small Schools Tournament held in the Lake District. For the past two seasons (2008, 2009) Fettes qualified for the National Small Schools Final to compete with several schools based in England.
Representing Scotland
Each year Fettes sends representatives to trial for the under-19 Scottish Squad. Last year there were seven Fettesians representing Scotland in the Junior Home Internationals.
World Championships
Currently there are another seven Fettesian girls training with the Junior Scotland side in preparation for a World Championship in 2011.
