Independence, responsibility and flexibility

Craigleith is state-of-the-art in terms of modern boarding house standards and ideas. Heralding more independence, responsibility and flexibility, the goal is to better equip the students for life beyond Fettes. The House is run by Richard and Caroline Davies, both experienced House Staff and teachers who were recruited for the purpose.

A purposeful and fun learning environment

The top year from both boys and girls Houses are brought together here and in addition to the usual goals of exam success, experience a carefully structured programme of talks and activities, which prepare the students for life beyond the walls of Fettes. Academic routines, laundry chores, cooking and cleaning are all part of the package and this creates a busy, purposeful and fun learning environment.

Freedom to take responsibility

The living arrangements and atmosphere are a step closer to a university halls of residence with greater freedoms running hand-in-hand with expectations on self direction. The focus is on allowing students the freedom to take a greater degree of responsibility for organising their own lives.
