The four strands

Games, Activities, the Elite Athlete Programme and Physical Education.

Unbeatable facilities

In Form 3, the PE programme offers an enviable breadth and depth; the college is fortunate enough to have the facilities to offer all six components of the National Curriculum (key stages 3 and 4).

Contemporary issues in sport

In addition to core PE Form 3 pupils can also select an academic PE programme which introduces contemporary issues in sport.

A popular choice

GCSE PE (AQA GCSE specification) is a popular choice, with 35 pupils studying it this year. The pupils vary in their sporting interests and performance level but they all share the common goal of wanting to achieve the best possible grade in the subject

A level PE

The College also offers the pupils the chance to study PE at A level (AQA A Level specification). The A level course is very demanding; challenging pupils to develop a high level of understanding of applied physiology, biomechanics, psychology, sociology and the acquisition of skills.

Technological advances

The department are constantly investigating technological advances in the analysis and 2010 will see the department use DARTFISH Team Pro 5 (Video Analysis Software) as part of our evolving eTEACHING programme.
