Classics

Classics is one of the most traditional subjects taught at Fettes. It has gone through many changes in the last few decades and now it is a refreshing discipline that spans literature and language in equal measure. Fettes has had a strong Classics department since it opened in 1870. The college followed other similar institutions like Eton in providing a liberal, humanist education based on the Classics. In many ways things have not changed that much. A classical education still prepares pupils for the real world making their portfolio a very strong one indeed.
