Classical Civilisation and Ancient History

At the moment there are six modules (AS – 3, A2 – 3). We do five taught and examined modules and one coursework module at A2.

In AS we combine Ancient History and literature:
AS:  Greek and Roman Historians 1 (Herodotos on the Persians Wars)
 Greek Tragedy 2 (Euripides)
 Roman Britain 1 (military, forts, Hadrian’s Wall)

There is a compulsory fieldtrip to Hadrian’s Wall in the Spring Term.

A2 Coursework: Any area the candidate may feel attracted to
 Greek Tragedy 3 (Sophocles and Euripides)
 Greek and Roman Historians 2 –Tacitus and Suetonius on Nero.

There is a Classics trip to Italy or Greece every year.
