Entry Procedure

Applying to Fettes

All pupils joining Fettes will sit entrance tests or exams appropriate to their age as well as an interview. We are looking for bright, curious, motivated children who have a commitment to academic and personal development and not simply the straight A students.

Entry into the Prep School

Pupils may join the Prep School at any stage (ages 7-13) and the entrance exams are held every January (although on occasion these can be taken at other times).

Entry at 13+

Applicants can either take the Common Entrance Examination or the Fettes College 13+ Entrance Examinations. The Fettes entrance exams take place every March and an interview with a senior member of staff also takes place.

Entry into the Sixth Form

The minimum entry requirement for Sixth Form is passes in at least six GCSE subjects at Grade B or better, or the equivalent to this. The entrance exams take place every November and places are normally decided at this time. An interview with the Headmaster also takes place.

Entry is sometimes possible into other year groups.
