Fettes has, since its opening in 1870, produced many leaders of industry, trade and commerce, the Government service, the armed services, the arts and the professions. There have been many Fettesians, unsung heroes, who have tirelessly served the community and the country in peacetime and in war. There have also been many sporting heroes, and Fettes has had distinguished representatives in the worlds of the theatre, literature, music and the arts.
