Physical Education

In engaging in Physical Education at Fettes College, pupils will learn to develop creative responses, critical appreciation and interpersonal skills. They also experience and gain knowledge and understanding of the role of exercise in good health and develop a positive attitude to an active lifestyle through a number of activities which are based on the six strands of the National Curriculum of Physical Education - Games, Swimming, Athletic Activities, Gymnastics, Dance and Outdoor Activities.

Physical Education is taught as a compulsory part of the curriculum from Form M in the Prep School to the Third Form in the Senior School. Third Form pupils can also opt to undertake a course which is in addition to their curriculum PE course. This covers a number of theory areas which will build on their understanding of selected sports, and a number of issues in sport as a whole. In the Fourth Form the pupils are given the option to choose GCSE PE and moving into the Sixth Form they may choose AS-Level PE and A2 PE (from September 2005).
