Careers Advice

ogilvy.jpgAll pupils from Fifth Form onwards enjoy the benefits of automatic enrolment with the Independent Schools Careers Organisation (ISCO). These include participation in Morrisby Psychometric Testing of Ability, Aptitude and Personality in the Fifth Form, membership of the Futurewise comprehensive careers service, personal interviews with qualified and impartial ISCO staff throughout the Fifth and Sixth Forms, priority enrolment on Careers Experience courses and access to ISCO Information Services and advisers until the age of 23. Parents receive a detailed report after Morrisby testing and interviews in the Fifth Form, so that discussion can begin on Sixth Form subject choices and planning for further education.

As they progress up the School, pupils are encouraged to make increasing use of our modern Careers Room and the additional facilities for research which are available in the Main Library and in Houses. While the vast majority of Fettesians (over 90%) go into higher education, full account is taken of their long-term aspirations, and at the same time the needs of those who wish to pursue a different path are not neglected. Pupils are encouraged to participate in careers experience courses and organise their own work experience. An annual Careers Day gives all Lower Sixth Formers the opportunity to discuss their ambitions and potential with a range of advisers from industry, commerce and the universities.
