Carrington House
Opened in 1872 as Dalmeny House, what is now Carrington House is the term-time residence of 55 boys aged between 13 and 18 years old. Located just off the main drive to the College, the House is pleasantly surrounded by woodland with fine views of some city's major landmarks. In addition to the excellent whole school sporting facilities, Carrington has its own tennis court, cricket net, half football pitch and basketball court. The House received the most comprehensive refurbishment of all the boarding houses in the 1990's, providing the boys with attractive, comfortable and modern surroundings, and has helped to create probably the most friendly and relaxed community in the School.
Carringtonians are justifiably proud of their House and of the high standards that continue to be both set, and met, by every year group. The College offers a tremendously broad range of academic, sporting, musical, cultural and theatrical pursuits and Carrington boys have traditionally been at the forefront across a variety of fronts. The House is justifiably proud to be the current senior rugby, senior basketball, chess, piano and solo singing champions and they are silver medalists in the swimming, hockey and tug-a-war events. Carringtonians are also heavily involved in drama, choirs, orchestra, Pipe Band, Duke of Edinburgh and the many societies within the School. In the coming Autumn term the House will be performing the play ‘A Man for All Seasons’ and the boys have been busily learning their lines over the summer break (we hope).
The Housemaster, Mr James Weatherby, also teaches Mathematics in the College and he originally hails from
