Carrington House
Opened in 1872 as Dalmeny House, what is now Carrington is the term-time residence of 65 boys aged between 13 and 18 years old. Located just off the main drive to the College, the House is pleasantly surrounded by woodland with fine views of the city's major landmarks and good access to the School's many facilities and teaching rooms. The House received the most comprehensive refurbishment of all the boarding houses in the 1990's, providing the boys with attractive, comfortable and modern surroundings, and has helped to create probably the most friendly and relaxed community in the School. This is enforced by the unofficial House motto, Trust, Honesty and Respect, which has helped to create a secure and happy boarding environment of which Carringtonians are justifiably proud. Carrington has always excelled on a wide variety of fronts: in academic matters, our Third and Fourth formers regularly top the School grades league tables, and our Fifth and Sixth formers have always produced first-rate GCSE, Higher and A-Level results. Carringtonians also make very gifted sportsmen; Carrington is always well represented in the School 1st teams and has a large number of boys participating in minor sports. Other aspects of school life are equally important, with many Carringtonians involved in drama, choirs, orchestra, Pipe Band, Duke of Edinburgh and the many societies within the School.
The House is run by its Housemaster, Mr David Goodenough. He is assisted in the running of the House by his wife, Claire. Our excellent Resident Tutor is Mr Hugo Battersby, the greyhound trainer. He also teaches Economics.
