Outdoor Pursuits
Aims
Once an adequate degree of proficiency is achieved, those who wish can venture further afield, the skiers to Glenshee or the Cairngorms, the canoeists to rivers in the Highlands and Borders and the climbers to various Highland peaks. The most ambitious can spend a week in the Easter holidays on an Adventurous Training course, which includes learning survival skills such as snow-holing. In addition, members of staff regularly organise domestic and foreign trips during the holidays. Most years a group goes downhill skiing in either the French or the Austrian Alps; pupils have regularly been taken cross-country skiing in Norway; our climbers scale peaks from the Cuillins of Skye to the Southern Alps of New Zealand, and our sub- aqua divers have plumbed the depths of the Red Sea.
