Our Catering
All the catering at Fettes College is co-ordinated and run by our Catering Manager Chris Collister. All meals are served in our Dining Hall on a cafeteria, self-service basis. Different menus are prepared weekly, offering a selection of attractively presented hot and cold meals of an appropriate nutrient composition. We aim to develop in children, a wider understanding of food, nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
At Prep School lunches, members of staff eat with pupils encouraging good table manners. There is no set table plan although pupils are encouraged to mix between years. Grace is said by a prefect before the start of the meal. Pupils are asked to wait until everybody on their table has finished their meal before clearing their place.
Senior School meals are taken after the Prep School. Meal times are staggered for different year groups and those who have activities directly after the meal are given priority tickets. Students sit with their friends at tables of eight.
A typical daily menu is as follows:
Breakfast 7.30am to 8.00am
Choice of cereals.
Fresh fruit or yoghurt
Morning rolls, toast, preserves & butter.
Fruit juice, tea, coffee, milk or hot chocolate.
Traditional cooked breakfast.
Lunch 12.15pm to 12.45pm (followed by 30 minute break)
Soup
Main course offers a choice of:
salad bar (including pasta & rice salads); or
baked potato with fillings; or
pasta and sauce; or
choice of three hot dishes (1 vegetarian) and
a daily selection of potatoes and vegetables
Rolls and salad to have with any of the above
Hot or cold pudding, fruit, yoghurt
Water to drink and after their main course, tea, coffee, hot chocolate
Tea 5.15pm to 5.45pm
Soup
Choice of three hot main courses (1 vegetarian)
Hot or cold sweet
Hot beverages
Bread, butter and jam
Snacks are delivered daily to the Boarding Houses and for morning and afternoon breaks and supper.
