Our location:

The Prep School is set in the grounds of Fettes College (our senior school) just 1 mile from the centre of Edinburgh in 100 acres of private parkland. Although close to a wealth of much-visited theatres, art galleries and concert halls in Edinburgh, we have easy access to the splendours of the Scottish countryside. We are also only 20 minutes away from Edinburgh International Airport and Waverley train station.

At the Prep School we blend traditional and progressive values and live in a friendly, family atmosphere with pastoral care our top priority. Our house system fosters responsibility, friendship and a sense of security whilst we also promote respect for others. There is a strong focus on promoting personal development too.

Our Academic Excellence.

We achieve academic excellence through encouraging our children to acquire the skills and attitude which will allow them to become successful adults. With small class sizes and an excellent staffing ratio, we are able to ensure that we devote considerable time to the individual needs of each child.

Our Activities:

At the Prep School there is a wealth of extracurricular activities to suit all tastes and keep all our pupils occupied whether day pupils or boarders. These include camping, visits to exhibitions and events in Edinburgh as well as a wide range of outdoor pursuits such as climbing, skiing, canoeing, kayaking and biking. Other activities include sailing, sub aqua, dry slope skiing and visiting local climbing walls.

Our link with Fettes College:

All pupils at the Prep School benefit from the interaction with senior pupils from Fettes College and many have brothers and sisters in the senior school too.  Most Prep School pupils enter Fettes College at 13 years old and then become part of the Senior school.
