Graduated Learning

At Fettes College Preparatory School we are conscious that the development of qualities facilitating independence in thought, and understanding, in young children is a gradual process and that pupils in their formative years learn best in an environment in which they feel secure.
For this reason, their feeling a sense of 'belonging' to a specific teacher and location is fostered in our younger pupils through their being taught the core subjects by their form teacher in their form room base.

Once a confident approach to their learning has been established, older pupils are then encouraged to build on these foundations laid down in their early years. In this respect, they work with a greater number of teachers and are increasingly expected to exercise responsibility for organising their own work; both in, and outwith, the classroom.

Our pupils enjoy a maximum class size of 18.
