Admissions Process

How should I apply?

Most families will initially request a prospectus from FettesCollege and then come for an individual visit. This will give you the opportunity to tour the school, meet some pupils and key members of staff. Your child can then have a taster day to shadow current pupils and stay overnight in one of our boarding houses. This is designed to give you and your child a true feel of what FettesCollege has to offer.

Those then interested in their child attending FettesCollege will register them for entry. Our Admissions Secretary Mrs Marshall can guide you through all aspects of the admissions process and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please contact her on 0044 (0) 131 311 6744.

Who would thrive at Fettes?

Fettes seeks bright, motivated, and curious students who possess imagination, energy, a willingness to take risks, a concern for others, and a commitment to academic and personal growth. We receive many more applications from prospective students than there are spaces available, so we are unfortunately not able to accommodate all applicants who are qualified.

Our Headmaster meets each potential students and we use these personal interviews to assess the promise of each individual applicant and to determine which students will gain the most from and contribute to all that FettesCollege has to offer. We actively seek a student body that is racially, geographically, and socio-economically diverse and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Differences in educational opportunities and individual circumstances are valued and are taken into consideration in the decision process.

Potential students will also need to sit entrance exams or tests relevant to their age group (please see Entry Procedure section).
