The Fettes College Preparatory School EFL Department is part of the Languages Faculty at Fettes, but it has links with all other departments as much of its work is cross-curricular. Its aim is to help all pupils whose first language is not English to gain as much as possible from their time at Fettes College both academically and socially.

Until they have a working knowledge of English, non mother tongue pupils come to EFL classes in place of certain other subjects. EFL classes are small and relaxed and geared to help pupils with their individual language problems. Our aim is to build up the pupils’ confidence and to integrate them into mainstream subjects as soon as they are ready.
