Laptop Insurance
Insurance claims can result from theft or accidental damage. Procedures differ according to ownership of the laptop and the nature of the incident:

These arrangements are in flux due to the demise of Frist Technology in late November 2007. See the letter in the laptops folders in the secure area.
In the unlikely event of theft at Fettes, the details of the incident are gathered at Fettes by the Housemaster or Housemistress, Security and ICT Support. If necessary, the police are contacted and an interview is arranged. The police issue a crime record number and we supply a report of the incident. We then lodge the insurance claim. If the claim is successful then a replacement or repaired laptop can be expected in 5-6 weeks. Release of the laptop may require prior payment of an insurance excess by the parent.
In the event of theft away from Fettes please contact ICT Support.
In the event of accidental damage, the incident is reported to ICT Support who lodge a claim. Some repairs or replacements are done on site; others have to be sent away. Turn round time varies but a replacement laptop can be issued. An insurance excess may need to be paid: this will usually be added to the school bill.
Private ownership
As above, except that the parent has full responsibilty for lodging the claim. Please contact ICT Support for advice on the specification and compatibility of the replacement laptop.
