IB History

IB historians follow a two year course, with examinations at the end of the second year. Standard Level historians sit two papers and cover a range of twentieth century topics. These include

• Lenin and the Russian Revolution
• Stalin and the Soviet Union
• Mussolini and Fascist Italy
• Origins of the Cold War
• The Korean War
• The Cuban Missile Crisis
• The Vietnam War

Higher Level historians sit one extra paper. The course revolves around Nineteenth and Twentieth Century topics such as:

• Italian Unification
• German Unification
• The Origins of World War One
• Weimar Germany
• Post War Western Europe

All students compile a piece of coursework on the Vietnam War, focusing on aspects such as the effects of popular protest on the American war effort and military reasons for US failure.
