AS History
Lower Sixth A level historians are given a choice as to which period they wish to study. Some choose early modern history (1450-1750) and others modern history (1800-1990). That choice dictates the syllabus for the next two years. Every student takes three modules in the Lower Sixth. They are listed below. The period studies are examined by essays and the document studies paper tests out skills of source evaluation.
Early modernists look at the European Reformation, Dutch Revolt, French Renaissance monarchy, the Tudor Dynasty and European Witchcraft.
Modernists study Ireland in the age of Parnell, Post War Britain and Napoleon.
