Richard Smith BA Exeter

Mr Richard Smith came to Fettes in 1994, to teach English and Drama and eventually took over the Drama Department in 1998. His dramatic interests lie in modern, physical theatre. Outside the classroom he is a keen sailor and a lover of real ale and live music. In September, he will become Housemaster of Kimmerghame and therefore demits his role as Head of Drama at the end of this year.

Betty Thomson BA London MLitt Edinburgh

Mrs Betty Thomson joined the staff some time ago, and having done a whole raft of things, including teaching in both the English and Drama Departments, is now Head of Careers. In addition to being an outstanding director, she is a design guru and manages the department’s extensive Costume Wardrobe.

Adrienne Ferguson BEd Cambridge

Miss Adrienne Ferguson is Head of Drama in the Preparatory School and has been on the staff since September 2004. In addition to teaching Drama, Adrienne also looks after a reception class. Her own interests include rowing, water skiing, hockey, swimming, tennis and running. Adrienne has travelled extensively through Australia, New Zealand and Africa.

Peter Jenkins MA Edinburgh

Mr Peter Jenkins who arrived this year is principally a member of the English Department but he teaches Drama as part of the curriculum and directs plays. He has a keen interest in English related activities, sport, and is particularly concerned about issues such as fair trade, third world debt and the environment. In September, Peter will become the Resident Tutor of Moredun House.

Edmund Comer MA Edinburgh

Mr Edmund Comer has been appointed Head of Drama at Fettes College with effect from September 2007. Prior to taking up this appointment Edmund was Head of Drama at Wells Cathedral School. Edmund has taken part in many productions as an actor and director and his interests include singing, cooking and rugby.
