Third Form
Third Formers all attend two periods of Drama per cycle. Emphasis is very firmly placed on the practical nature of the subject. Modules tend to last between four and six weeks and cover a range of theatrical styles and genres. Students are always working collaboratively, either in pairs or small groups, and there is always some element of performance at the end of each module. This year we introduced the option to take a further two periods of Drama per cycle and this was well supported. In addition to looking at more advanced performance skills such as improvisation and devising, the Drama Option provides opportunities to explore aspects of theatre history and technical theatre, such as lighting, sound and make-up, which are not part of the core Drama programme. There will also be the opportunity for students to write about work they have participated in and theatre they have seen. Thus theatre visits, including backstage tours, are an integral part of the course.
